A representative of the State Auditor’s Office reviewed Crestline’s financial records, and while not declaring the village to be in fiscal emergency, did report to the Finance Committee that the village had some fundamental financial issues that had to be addressed.
Belinda Miller told village officials this week that they had not been allocating income tax revenue in accordance with ballot language. As a result the village will have transfer money from the Street Fund to the Fire and Police Fund and likewise, from the Capital Improvement Fund.
Those transfers will leave the Street Fund with a negative balance. If that issue is not corrected by the end of the year, the village could be declared to be in fiscal emergency.
