BUCYRUS — Lucas Conn of Crestline appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Thursday to plead guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control.

Conn, 39, was placed on five years of community control in June after he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

According to his probation officer, Conn tested positive for drugs on July 11, including meth, fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamines.

Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Conn to a flat seven months in prison. Leuthold said he would not oppose transitional control.

In other court action, Kimberly Hines, 45, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of her community control. Hines pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary in 2010, a first-degree felony punishable with up to 11 years in prison. She was granted judicial release in 2015 after serving five years and three months in prison.

According to her probation officer, Mark Wurm, a routine drug screen showed meth and methamphetamines in Hines’ system.

Leuthold accepted Hines’ admission to violating the terms and conditions of her community control and agreed to postpone sentencing so that her attorney, Brad Starkey, might gather information to argue her sentence.

“She has a large prison sentence hanging over her head so I’m going to allow an extension for Mr. Starkey to gather information,” Leuthold said.

Hines was taken back to the Crawford County Justice Center where she will stay until the sentencing.

Ronnie Thompson, 42, of Shelby pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. When Thompson was originally offered the sentence with possible judicial release later, he declined the offer. As a condition of his bond, Leuthold ordered a drug test since Thompson had been out of jail on bond.

While awaiting the results of the drug test, Thompson agreed to take the plea deal.

“My idea is that you broke bond and now want this deal,” Leuthold said. “As I go through this plea don’t give me a reason to stop it.”

Thompson was sentenced to 12 months in prison with a possible judicial release later. He was ordered to forfeit all drug related property to the Galion Police Department.
