Be they the village’s financial health or the perceived relationship between the police department and the community, there are no shortage of issues for Crestline’s leadership to contend with. But it will be the election that will determine the Crestline’s next leader who gets to deal with them.

Mayor David Sharrock decided not to run for office again, but voters will determine who replaces him and have four names to choose from on Nov. 3’s ballot.

Former police Chief Gerald Dowell declared his intentions earlier this year and filed to run as a Democrat. Former village tax clerk and fiscal officer Gloria McDonald is running. John Mills also filed as a candidate for mayor. Neither McDonald nor  Mills filed with any political party. Current Village Council member and former village administrator Gene Toy is the fourth candidate. Toy specifically filed as non-party.

Two seats on the Village Council are on the ballot with two candidates filing, Allen Moore and Tina Swartz. Both are currently on the Village Council.
