CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Village of Crestline is making a splash in 2024 with a significant investment in its Parks and Recreation areas. The village plans to design and build a new splash pad near the current swimming pool area, a project that signifies a shift in direction for the community’s recreational facilities.
The swimming pool, which has been neglected for several years, is beyond repair within the confines of the grant funding the village has received. However, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has authorized the village to redirect these funds toward the splash pad project, which is set to begin construction in early 2024.
Starting March 1st, the village began the process of removing many items from the swimming pool operations to make way for the new splash pad. Over the next few months, the site will see a flurry of activity, including hauling in dirt, leveling the ground, and removing the slide, pumps, and lines no longer needed. This preparation will pave the way for the splash pad installation, set to be operational in 2024. Unfortunately, this means the swimming pool will be permanently closed.
The total project is estimated to cost $405,000. The Village of Crestline will utilize the $343,000 ODNR Grant, initially intended for the swimming pool, towards the splash pad project. This leaves the village’s investment at $62,000.
Once complete, the Parks and Recreation Committee will hold a Grand Opening for the venue, which will feature an inclusive design for all children, regardless of their needs. The Village of Crestline is dedicated to ensuring that its Parks and Recreation facilities are inclusive of all parties. The splash pad will also feature LED lighting for small light shows.
The Splash Pad will be free and open to the public during a set number of hours to be discussed by the committee in the near future. This project represents a significant step forward in the Village of Crestline’s commitment to investing in its future and providing inclusive, engaging recreational spaces for its residents.
The targeted completion date is July 2024.
