There were fewer public participants than the past few weeks at Crestline’s Village Council meeting Monday after a slight tweak to the public participation rules.

Mayor Dave Sharrock read the changed rules prior to the Public Participation portion of the agenda.

“In order to speak at regular and special meetings public participants are now given three minutes to voice their concerns. Participants must fill out the sign in sheet to be recognized by the chair, and can only address the chair. If the participant has a question to be addressed to a particular councilmember, or village administrative employee it will be addressed at that time,” Sharrock said.

As a result only one person spoke before Crestline Council Monday night.

Bud Huber of the Crestline Junior Baseball League came before council with questions about two break-ins affecting the organization that occurred during the summer and fall.

Crestline Police Chief Joseph Butler had been excused from the meeting. Huber’s information was collected to be passed along to the police department to see if any leads have come up on the break-ins.

Only two ordinances were on the agenda for Monday’s meeting.

Council held a first reading of a new ordinance that limits the credit against tax to taxpayers who make and file on-time tax returns.

Council passed, under rules of emergency, an ordinance that returns a $100,000 advance from the sewer fund back to the water fund.

The Crestline Eye Candy award for best looking property was given to resident Tammy Moore. Moore received a plaque for the award.

In unfinished business council member Gene Toy asked if council meetings could be announced on the village’s Web site.
