Village Administrator Corey Spackey said he is working with village solicitor Rob Ratliff on utility bill collections for past due bills.

Spackey is asking the village department heads to provide him with an up-to-date project list and timeline for 2021 so a tracking system can be put in place.

“This will also become a part of our budgeting discussion later this year as we begin laying out plans for the 2022 budget, which I would like to start discussing and planning for in mid to late July,” said Spackey.

He also updated council members on the annexation of the Dollar General store into the village.

“We received an update from the Richland County Commissioners regarding annexation. Everything has been approved. We are currently in a 30-day waiting period where the township could object to the annexation. If there is no objection then we will receive our next action from the county, which I believe will be council accepting the annexation of the property,” said Spackey.

Council approved legislation for Spackey to begin advertising for competitive bids for the second phase of the Main Street Waterline Project and to award the project to the lowest bidder. The council also gave the green light for Spackey to do the same for the Park Road sewer station project.

Ordinances to adopt an updated computer usage policy for the village was also approved along with transfer of funds to rectify balances for 2019 and 2020.

The next council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 15 at Village Hall.
