Crestline Village Council met Wednesday with an eye on vacant properties and established a new policy governing both commercial and residential vacancies.

Both commercial and residential buildings that are vacant must be registered with the village. Not only will those property owners be required to maintain and secure their vacant properties, they will also be required to put money in escrow that can be used to demolish them if necessary.

Escrow fees are $10,000 for residential properties and $75,000 for commercial properties.
