The Crestline Village Council met together one final time this year to discuss the process council will go through to replace the departing Kevin Taylor as well as to amend the permanent appropriation ordinance for 2014.

With council member Kevin Taylor resigning effective Dec. 31, Village Council members discussed the process for appointing his replacement. Council member Gene Toy explained that council has 30 days from Taylor’s resignation to fill his seat.

Letters of interest and resumes must be submitted to council member Clayton Herold by Jan. 14. Interviews will be held on the week of Jan. 18, and the new council member will be appointed during the Jan. 26 Village Council meeting.

Council members unanimously approved amending the Permanent Appropriation Ordinance for 2014 which transfers the funds within the General Fund as well as increases appropriations on the Street Fund, Income Tax Fund, Sewer Fund, and Ambulance Fund.

In this amendment $12,545 will be removed from the Police Account and will then be transferred to the Council Account, Auditor, Village Hall, Fire and Pool Account.

Section 2 of the amendment increases funds to the Street Fund ($9,500), Income Tax Fund ($28,750), Sewer Fund ($25,750), and Ambulance Fund ($13,000) from unappropriated reserves.

At the end of the Tuesday’s meeting, council member Clayton Herold spoke regarding the resignation of Taylor:

“I would like to take a moment to “thank” Kevin Taylor for his year of service on Crestline Village Council. For him it was a process that started before the 2013 May Primary and ends on the final calendar day of 2014.

Kevin ran because he wanted to give back to his community that he cares deeply about. Being an elected official isn’t easy and Kevin was met with resistance and at times it came right from me.

Over the course of the past year, I have been fortunate to work side by side with him. I can tell you that Kevin Taylor took his job on council seriously and he was meticulous in finding the facts rather than just believing what he was told.

I am glad I can call Kevin Taylor a friend and I wish him luck with his future endeavors.”
