On Dec. 12, the Crestline Board of Education found itself trying to complete a balancing act – figuring out how to sensitively handle children who come to school with bed bugs, while protecting other students, staff and school property from the insects.

Noting that bed bugs have been found on children from one district family, Superintendent Noreen Mullens asked the board to approve a bed bug flow chart as direction for course of action.

The document specifies different procedures when bed bugs are found in the school and when bed bugs are found on a child’s belongings.
