CRESTLINE — With the closure of schools by Gov. DeWine until May 1, Crestline Exempted Village Schools will continue with instruction via distance learning/online learning delivery methods.
All new information will be shared via social media and on the district website, www.crestline.k12.oh.us
Collecting School Work from Initial Closure
Paper copies of assigned work need to be dropped off on Monday, April 6. There will be a secondary and elementary drop-off area located by the exterior entrances of those buildings. If your students were using digital tools for this classwork, the due date on these assignments is April 6 as well. Please return the completed school work in a large envelope or gallon bag that is clearly marked with the students’ name. There will be boxes marked by grade level and you will simply drop those materials in the appropriate box. Those will be available starting at 8:00 AM
Chromebooks
For students without a device at home, the current plan will include distributing chromebooks to students on Monday, April 6. The district is putting together a plan to turn the school parking lots into wifi hotspots for families who have a device but no internet access. Currently, the Crestline Public Library parking lot is set up as a WiFi hotspot. The district will collect these devices on May 4 or the first week of June if schools are closed for the remainder of the year. Parents who need a device will need to complete the survey posted to the district website and Facebook page.
Grades Pre-K, Kindergarten, First
Online and distance learning will take place across all grade levels in some format, and teachers in grades PK, K, 1 will still have the option of creating paper-based packets. Parents will be able to pick up the new packet when dropping off the previous work on Monday, April 6. This will take place at the east entrance sidewalk by the playground. Your Pre-School, Kindergarten, 1st grade teacher will communicate more specific details about picking up materials prior to April 6. Some other courses will also be using some other materials to support distance learning. Those teachers will reach out via email, Class Dojo, Remind, or phone to schedule a pick up.
Report Cards
Parents of students in grades 6-12 can now view 3rd nine-week report cards using the parent access to ProgressBook for their child. Hard copies of elementary grade level report cards can be picked up or will be sent home beginning Monday, April 6.
Graduation/Prom
For the parents of students in the Senior Class of 2020. We are scheduled to return to school May 4. If we return on that date, the graduation ceremony scheduled for May 29, 2020 will not be changed, as long as the state allows large gatherings. If those conditions change, the district will communicate a postponement date and time.
Tentatively, we are looking to hold Prom on Saturday, May 23, if students can return to school on May 4. If school is cancelled for the remainder of the year, the Crestline School District will communicate a plan to either cancel prom or postpone it into Summer, contingent on restrictions for large-group gatherings.
Contact Matt Henderson, Superintendent, for more information.
