CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Federal Railroad Administration has chosen four Ohio routes as priorities for Amtrak expansion, one of which includes a stop in Crestline.

The first two Ohioan selected corridors on the list were sponsored by the Ohio Rail Development Commission with the endorsement of Gov. Mike DeWine, said Brown.

The routes that will be updated in Ohio are the Cleveland-Columbus-Dayton-Cincinnati corridor, the Cleveland-Toledo-Detroit corridor, the Chicago-Fort Wayne-Columbus-Pittsburgh corridor, and the Daily Cardinal Service.

The Federal Railroad Administration will provide $500,000 for each corridor for planning, and the next step will involve state and federal funding for engineering, design, and construction.

The only concerns regarding the expansion is that the State of Ohio may not be willing to continue participating in the expansion plans.

Crestline Mayor Linda Horning-Pitt has stated that while Crestline is included in the plans, it will take about five years to see the results.

Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
