A former councilman returned to Crestline Village Hall Monday, but it wasn’t to fill in the vacated council seat left by Stacey Wampler.
David Crokie, who had been a member of council, returned to ask questions regarding the status of the council vacancy.
Mayor Dave Sharrock said four letters of intent for the position had been received, with the last letter being received on Oct. 10.
After receiving the information, Crokie asked what role the mayor would have in the decision of who would take Wampler’s vacated seat on council.
“The only thing I would do is if there is a member of council to abstain. I have no vote in the matter unless one of the council members is absent from voting,” Sharrock responded.
“We had the vacancy come before us, and we went ahead and got it advertised. We have 30 days to get it done. We put it in the Advocate to get people to turn their names in,” Sharrock said.
Crestline has until Nov. 1 to fill the position.
