CRESTLINE—The Crestline Lions Club held its annual banquet on February 8th, where they recognized the Police Dispatcher and Officer of the Year.
Citing his exemplary service to the Village of Crestline and by a vote of his peers, Ryan Sheriff, who passed away in late 2021, was given the honor posthumously.
Sheriff joined the Crestline Police Department in 2018. In addition to dispatch duties, he worked undercover operations and as an Auxiliary officer. Sheriff is survived by his daughter Alli.
Officer of the Year recognition went to Crestline Police Officer Ryan Novik using the same criteria. Novik began his career at Crestline in April of 2020. He serves as a departmental field training officer and a drone operator. Officer Novik resides in Galion with his wife Kayla, son Carter and daughter McKenzie.
“Both men are deserving of this award. Not only are these employees a proud representation of our department, but their “ devotion of service” has been recognized by many. I am and was proud to call each of these men not only peers but friends.” Police Chief Jeffrey Shook said.
