CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— A house fire in Crestline early Thursday morning resulted in one fatality. The incident began at approximately 3:38 a.m. on December 11, 2025, when the Crestline Fire Department received reports of a fire at a residence located at 531 County Line Road.

Upon arrival shortly after 3:45 a.m., firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions and significant smoke filling the home.
Crestline police officers at the scene promptly requested mutual aid from surrounding fire agencies.

The initial response team quickly commenced a primary search for any occupants within the residence; however, as conditions worsened rapidly, firefighters were compelled to switch to a defensive strategy to suppress the flames safely.

Once the fire was under control, responders discovered one deceased individual inside the home. The identity of the victim has not been released, as authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the blaze, spearheaded by the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office.

In a statement, the Crestline Fire Department, alongside the Village of Crestline, expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. They also acknowledged the critical support from mutual aid partners, including the Jefferson Township, Galion, Shelby, and Springfield Township Fire Departments, as well as the Crestline Police Department, the American Red Cross, and the Ohio Special Response Team K-9 Division.
