Things will soon be brighter in parts of Crestline. The Village Council gave its approval for Village Administrator Marc Milliron to proceed with a loan from the Toledo Port Authority Monday night for an Energy Special Improvement District (ESID) project.

Council passed the resolution unanimously to approve borrowing $40,000 which will be used to install new LED lighting in the Village Administration Building, the Golden Age Center as well as two city maintenance buildings.

Village Administrator Milliron explained that Crestline was taking a wait and see approach.

“It is very critical with something brand new like this. It looks great and the ideas are wonderful, but we are taking it very slow and using a very little amount of money,” Milliron said.

Mayor Dave Sharrock explained the plan for the project.

“We are using the village buildings as a guinea pig to see the energy savings, and if it works.”

Milliron explained to council prior to vote that Crestline would be looking at a 40-percent rebate by accepting the resolution.

Council Member Dave Crokie asked Milliron what the next phase would be for the project to which Milliron responded that if the energy savings for the ESID works then they will look into expanding into businesses.

Crestline will have to pay the loan off in five years at a 3-percent interest rate.

Crestline Village Council voted unanimously to amend ordinance 351.11. The amendment calls for all parked vehicles on narrow streets and alleys to allow ten feet of width of the roadway for the free movement of traffic.

The amendment was recommended by the Street Committee to accommodate rescue, emergency, and snow removal equipment.

Council Member Clayton Herold announced that the Harvest Festival will be opening earlier this year; updating council that the festival will open at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 instead of 4 p.m. Herold explained that this is being done due to Crestline schools not being in session that day.

During his report to council, Police Chief Joe Butler announced that the Police Tip Line for Crestline is back up and running again.

Butler explained, “If any one sees anything, or knows anything suspicious call.”
