Crestline High School’s FCCLA members could have rewritten the words to the Roger Miller tune, “King of the Road” on Saturday. Instead of “two hours of pushin’ broom,” it was two hours of picking up trash at the 2nd Annual Crestline Community Clean-Up Challenge.
The students were also fulfilling a community service requirement as part of FCCLA. Council member Clayton Herold explains the concept of the Community Clean-Up Challenge.
“This is our second annual Crestline Community Clean Up Date Challenge,” Herold said. “It’s where local groups such as school groups, church groups go out into the community, they pick up trash in our public spaces and they bring it back and we award the team that collects the most and the team with the best theme.”
The FCCLA team was awarded with a trophy and pizza party. Kurtzman Recycling provided the dumpster for the event.
