Taking a cue from Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, the Crestline Village Council didn’t look any farther than its own back yard to fill a firefighter’s position.
Village Council named Scott Taylor as the Crestline Fire Department’s newest full-time firefighter on Monday. Taylor is a Crestline graduate and is also a certified EMT.
“I’ve been with Crestline Fire now for just over three years, starting off as part-time/volunteer. I absolutely love it; I have a strong passion for this position,” Taylor said. “My only regret is not pursuing this career 20 years ago. I love the fact of helping the citizens of our community.”
Council members also accepted the donation of the vacant Citizens Bank building to the village. It was recommended that building be sold or leased to a business that would create jobs.
Village Administrator Marc Milliron will be conducting a survey seeking input on the possibility of turning Bibich Court into a one-way street.
Council members approved purchasing a combination street vacuum and cleaner from Best Equipment Company for $329,000. Mayor Dave Sharrock said council is looking out for the best interests of the community in terms of cost.
Village Council then adjourned and went into executive session.
