One of the final acts for the current Crestline Village Council was to approve the hiring of a new police officer Monday night.

The hiring of Corey Grant as a part-time probationary officer to the Crestline Police Department was approved unanimously by council as an emergency. Grant will be placed on a probationary period for six months.

It was the last meeting for Councilmen Robert Miller, Jerry Bickert, and David Crokie as they chose not to run for reelection in the November General Election. Aaron Buckner, Kevin Taylor, and Stacey Jo Wampler will take the vacated seats when Crestline Village Council reconvenes in January.

Crestline Council also approved transferring $70,000 from the Capital Fund into the General Fund. When asked why the amount was so high, Village Administrator Marc Milliron explained that it was to cover tax monies that are still coming in.

During his report Crestline Police Chief Joe Butler noted that the new police cruisers are in and will be on the roads shortly.

Prior to Adjournment Mayor David Sharrock expressed thanks to the exiting councilmen, as well as those responsible for the Santa House and Santa Parade. The Parade occurred on December 15, while the Santa House was open December 15, 17, and 19.

The next Crestline Village Council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13.
