Two employees of Crestline Elementary were placed on administrative leave after dragging a 7-year-old autistic kindergarten student on the floor in May.
Crestline superintendent Noreen Mullins said a teacher and an aide are on leave after dragging the child through the hallways of Crestline Elementary and into the schools’ office.
Mullins said the actions taken by the school employees were drastically inappropriate and will be dealt with accordingly.
Mullins said she has spoken with the child’s mother multiple times since the incident and feels the are on the same page on the severity of the issue.
The Ohio Department of Education and Crestline Exempted Village School District are investing the situation.
“The Crawford County prosecutor closed his investigation on if there would be any felony criminal charges against the employees and that is why the video is now available as public record,” Mullins said. “We currently do not have a timeline on the internal disciplinary investigation due to attorneys being involved.”
Mullins said she has had no contact with ODE as they are carrying their own investigation.
She added new employees have been hired in the educational positions for the upcoming school year as the investigations continue.
