The sale of the old Hutson Stadium by Hamilton Park took a hit on Monday when members of the Crestline Village Council voted against granting an easement for the property.
The request for the easement came from the Crestline school district which is trying to sell the property since a new stadium has been built and is in use at the school. The easement is needed, according to school board president Bob Salvati, to move the sale forward.
The district says it has interested buyers for the property.
Monday’s vote rejecting the request came on a third reading with only Clayton Herold and Gene Toy supporting the measure. Those voting against the resolution cited a financial liability should any buyer fail to follow through with necessary renovations which could include demolition of the old stadium and asbestos abatement.
