CRESTLINE — It was a busy evening for the Crestline Village Council as it approved the employment of several new staff members during its regular meeting Monday.

Kevin Koehler was sworn-in by Mayor Joy Miley as the Crestline Police Department’s newest officer, bringing the department to full-staff, while Aaron Gibson was promoted to the position of sergeant.

Village Administrator John Rostash was happy to report that the village now has a Waste/Water Superintendent and a Class 3 Plant Manager-Operator.

“James Wyer has been selected as superintendent and Renee Bodkins as our manager,” Rostash said. “With these two additions to the Crestline team, we are now positioned to make great strides in providing better service to our water and waste water utility customers.”

He said the addition of Wyer and Bodkins also puts the village in the position to achieve and maintain compliance with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency requirements.

Rostash said the pool pumps at the Crestline Pool has been refurbished and installed by Buckeye Pumps.

“Our team is now working hard to ensure that the pool is adequately staffed, and the facility is safe and ready to open on May 28,” Rostash said.

Applicants for people aged 15 and older are being taken for staff members of the pool including lifeguards, a pool manager and concession stand workers. Applications can be downloaded from the village website.

Rostash said property maintenance inspections are underway throughout the village.

“Properties that harbor trash and debris are terrible for our community. Not only are they unsightly but they impede economic growth,” Rostash said. “We are aggressively pursuing property maintenance violations and have issued 36 in the past two weeks.”

Rostash said several orders for demolition are being issued this week.

Council approved Rostash as the village representative to the Crawford County Tax Incentive Review Council and amendments to the employee compensation ordinances.

The next council meeting is May 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crestline Village Hall.
