The Crestline Village Council gave itself some time to look for a better alternative at its meeting Monday evening.
Ordinance 3113, which would set up General Fund allocations for police K-9 and auxiliary funds, as well as volunteer firemen funds as an emergency, was voted down as an emergency and instead had its first reading Monday night.
Council member Gene Toy suggested that council hold off on passing the measure in order to search for better options that would be less cumbersome on the police and fire chiefs, Toy also added that the council shouldn’t create funds that may not necessarily be used.
The first reading of the ordinance was approved 6 to 0.
The Crestline Police Department will increase their numbers to eight after Village Council unanimously approved the appointment of Sean P. Nolan as a full-time probationary police officer during Monday night’s Council meeting.
With no changes in the temporary appropriations set for the Fiscal Year of 2015, the council approved the permanent appropriations for FY 2015 unanimously Monday night.
Crestline Village Council approved donating $500 to help finance the village’s parties in the park, which begin July 1.
Prior to adjourning, Toy requested that council hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. on March 30 to discuss rules and restructuring of committees.
