The Crawford Theater Company will be doing “the time warp again” as they bring the Rocky Horror Show to stage the last weekend of April as well as the first weekend of May.
The local stage production marks the 40th anniversary of the cult classic film. The show will be performed at the Bucyrus Elks at 8 p.m. on April 24, 25 and May 1, and at 10 p.m. on May 2.
The Crawford Theater Company’s Betsy Gerhart explained that people shouldn’t come expecting the same experience as viewing the film which is renowned for its audience participation which includes yelling out lines during certain parts of the film.
“The musical is not exactly the same as the movie, there are lines in the musical that are not in the movie, and there are lines in the movie that are not in the musical,” Gerhart said. “A lot of people have never seen this show movie-wise, anything. We want to keep it so that everyone can enjoy it, so we don’t want any yelling.”
Gerhart went on to explain that there will still be some audience participation involved in the play.
“There will be some audience participation, but it will be a live stage production, and just for the safety of the characters and actors it will be limited,” Gerhart said.
The cast, which was revealed on April 7, includes Mary Faulds, Matt Feck, Betsy Gerhart, Charles Groth, Dylan Harper, Cheri Laughbaum, Jamie Lyons, John Phillips, Kelly Schifer, Scott Smith, Jessie Sullivan, Levi Vermillion, and Tina Zornes. Dr. David Lady will play the role of the narrator.
Tickets for the performances are $25 and include pre-show appetizers, a prop bag, and show, or $12 for show only. Reservations can be made by calling 419-562-0404 or purchased at MB Subculture, 127 S Sandusky Ave, Bucyrus. For more information, visit www.thecrawfordtheatercompany.com.
