The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District has scheduled a timber harvest field day for Saturday October 26 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. It will be held at the Ted Coulter farm woodlot located on Monnett-New Winchester Road, just East of State Route 100, in southern Whetstone Township, Crawford County. It is approximately four miles West of Galion. Watch for field day signs.

Join us for a late morning tour of a recently harvested woodlot in Crawford County. Marty Michel, private consulting forester, will walk participants through the ins and outs of a typical timber harvest as we stroll through a recent timber harvest. This is a great opportunity for new woodland owners, or woodland owners who have never harvested timber, to see firsthand how much disturbance is involved with a harvest and how quickly the regrowth occurs. We will also discuss timber harvest best management practices and learn the timber value of different species of trees.

This event is free of charge, however registration is required. Call the Crawford SWCD office at 419-562-8280 to register, or for more details. If we have to cancel due to rain, we will notify WQEL Radio in Bucyrus and post it on Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District’s facebook page.
