BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County Soil and Water Conservation District is kicking off the new year with several major programs, including a Jan. 29 farmland preservation meeting and its annual tree and fish sales.

District technician Mike Hall said the upcoming farmland preservation session will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bucyrus Public Library and will cover conservation easements and statewide funding options for landowners interested in keeping acreage in agricultural use. The district is asking attendees to RSVP at 419‑562‑8280.

The district will also host its annual winter manure meeting Feb. 19 at the Whetstone Township Hall, featuring speakers from Michigan State University, Ohio State University and regional agronomists discussing soil health, technology, manure application and record‑keeping.
