CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — The Crawford Park District Astronomy Club is hosting a special event, “Viewing the Sun,” on Saturday, September 28, from 2-4 PM at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598. Participants will have the chance to observe the sun through a telescope specifically designed for solar viewing. Lowe-Volk Park is located 3 miles north of US Route 30.
In addition to this unique solar viewing event, the Crawford Park District has several other engaging programs lined up:

Pickin’ Pawpaws
Monday, September 30, 5 PM
Carpenter’s Bottom, 3229 State Route 98, Bucyrus
Join Naturalist Lisa for a hike to explore Ohio’s largest native fruit, the Pawpaw. If the fruits are ripe, participants will get to enjoy a delicious snack. Carpenter’s Bottom Natural Area is located on State Route 98 east of Bucyrus, just beyond the railroad tracks.

Monarch Tagging
Tuesday, October 1, 5 PM
Unger Park, 1303 Bucyrus Nevada Rd.
Learn about the Monarch butterfly’s life cycle and its migration to Mexico. Participants will assist Kansas University with Monarch migration research by capturing, tagging, and releasing Monarch butterflies. Nets will be provided. Unger Park is located just west of Bucyrus on Bucyrus-Nevada Road.

Homeschool in Nature: Archery
Thursday, October 3, 10 AM & 2 PM
Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598
Homeschoolers aged 5-12 will learn to safely use bows and arrows. With practice, participants will be hitting targets by the end of the class. Registration is required by calling 419-683-9000.
