Wild Wednesday: Wednesday, November 14 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park

Come to the Nature Center and enjoy an hour of nature exploration!  Program topics will vary and may include a story, short hike, craft, or a visit from an animal.  For pre-schoolers and their parents.  Come dressed for the weather.

Park Commissioners Meeting, November 15

The Crawford Park District Board of Park Commissioners will be holding their monthly meeting for November on Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center, 2401 State Route 598, Crestline.

 Nature Hike:  Cooperrider Bog: Saturday, November 17 at 9 a.m. at the Cooperrider-Kent Bog SNP

The sphagnum bog is a rare occurrence in Ohio and Cooperrider is the best. Gray Birch and Tamarack trees are abundant here. Meet Warren Uxley at the Lowe-Volk parking lot to caravan for the 1.5 hour drive.

Sears Woods closed on November 17 for a controlled deer hunt

The Crawford Park District is announcing the closing of Sears Woods State Nature Preserve on Saturday, November 17.  The Nature Preserve will be closed for a controlled deer hunt sponsored by The Division of Natural Areas and Preserves and the Crawford Park District. This hunt is only open to previously selected hunters. For more information or questions, call the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000.

 Animals of Halloween: Bats: Saturday, November 17 at 2 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park

Halloween is a time for “Spooky” or “Scary” animals! The bat has been labeled as one of those misunderstood “monsters”. Join Abby to learn about the folklore that cause bats to be used during Halloween and how we can combat the myths! We encourage people with phobias to come and learn about our native bats and their behavior to overcome their fears!

 Viewing the Night Sky: Saturday, November 24 at 6 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park

Join members of the Crawford Park Astronomy Club as they share their knowledge and telescope skills with all who are interested in the celestial sights. Targets for the fall months will include:  Saturn, Mars, M-32 (an elliptical galaxy), and NGC-869 (a double cluster).  The universe is an astronomical sight!
