CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District is hosting a series of engaging events this December at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598.

On Wednesday, December 11 at 5 p.m., join Naturalist Donald for Face to Face: Salamanders. Participants will meet the salamanders that call the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center home, including the largest North American amphibian and the iconic axolotl. Attendees will learn about the unique lifecycles of these fascinating creatures.

Little Explorers: Feathers will take place on Monday, December 16 at 5 p.m. This interactive program is designed for young children, ages 0-5. Activities will focus on stimulating infants’ senses and developing fine motor skills for toddlers and preschoolers. This month’s theme is feathers.

Frozen Critters

On Wednesday, December 18 at 5 p.m., join Director Cole for Frozen Critters. Ohio winters can be harsh, but some animals have unique adaptations to survive freezing temperatures. Learn about these animals and meet a few species known as “frozen critters.”

Finally, on Thursday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m., Ms. Joy will lead a craft session to create Pinecone Trees. Using a terra-cotta pot, pinecone, paint, sequins, glue, and pompoms, participants will make a pinecone Christmas tree decoration to bring a touch of nature to the holidays.
