BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District has announced a slate of interactive winter programs at Lowe-Volk Park, offering residents opportunities to engage with astronomy, wildlife care, and forest ecology.

The series begins with “Viewing the Night Sky” on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. Members of the Crawford Park Astronomy Club will guide visitors through telescope viewings of seasonal targets, including the planet Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy, and the Ring Nebula. In the event of inclement weather, an alternative program will be held inside the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center.

On Monday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m., the district will host “Feeding Day.” Led by Naturalist Lisa, the public is invited to assist in feeding the Nature Center’s “wildlife ambassadors,” learning about the specialized diets of local reptiles and amphibians.

The programming continues into the new year with “Homeschool in Nature: Bark and Buds” on Friday, Jan. 2. Two sessions will be offered at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Designed for children ages 5–12, the outdoor workshop teaches participants how to identify tree species during the dormant winter months by examining bark patterns and bud structures.

All programs are held at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598. For more information, residents can visit the district’s website at crawfordpd.org or follow the Crawford Park District on Facebook.
