BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District announced the temporary closing of Sears Woods State Nature Preserve on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, for a controlled deer hunt.

The closure is necessary to safely conduct a management hunt sponsored jointly by the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves and the Crawford Park District.

The park district emphasized that the hunt is not open to the public. Participation is limited exclusively to hunters who have been previously selected.

Sears Woods State Nature Preserve is scheduled to reopen on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.

Visitors are advised to plan accordingly, as no public access will be permitted on Dec. 20. For more information or questions regarding the closure or the controlled hunt, the public can contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000.
