BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFOED COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District at Lowe-Volk Park is hosting a variety of nature and educational programs throughout November, including rescheduled bird-focused events.
The popular Saw-Whet Owls program, Ohio’s smallest owl, has been rescheduled to Friday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. Bird bander Bob Placier will lead a presentation followed by checking mist nets to gather data on the nocturnal flyers. Placier will return the next day for a Fall Bird Banding session on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to study the local avian population. Both programs were previously scheduled for October.
Other events include a look at the history and preparation of food during Dutch Oven Cooking on Nov. 15 at 10 a.m., and a hands-on Feeding Day with the Nature Center’s wildlife ambassadors on Monday, Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m. Young children can join the Little Explorers program on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for “Nature Soup.”
The schedule also features a Winter Birds presentation on Nov. 19, a creative Agate Windchime craft on Nov. 20 (registration required), and two opportunities to join the Crawford Park Astronomy Club for Viewing the Night Sky on Nov. 22 and Nov. 29, both starting at 6 p.m. All events are held at Lowe-Volk Park.
