Allowing the wild side of kids’ creativity to come out the Crawford Park District held a Lego building contest.
Covering three different age groups the kids had to build an animal out of the popular building blocks and submit them by Jan. 23 with the winners being announced on Jan.25.
Crawford Park District Naturalist Logan Masters explained that the kids’ creativity weighed heavily when it came to judging the winners.
“That’s one of the things we took into our thought processes; how much creativity went into it,” Masters said. “We have one that’s a dog in a dog house. That was creative, it was, but we just kinda think that the squid took the cake on creativity. Legos, you can’t always tell
what they are, but these kids did a great job in making what they meant to make.”
Landon Hodges was the winner of the 6-9 age group with a squid.
Finishing first in the 3-5 age group was Whitney Baker with her horse.
Blaine Bishop took first place in the 10-13 age group with a Mallard Duck.
First place finishers received a Lego set from the Crawford Park District. All of the entrants’ works will be displayed at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center until Feb. 20.
