BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District has announced a series of educational programs for the month of January, aimed at homeschoolers and nature enthusiasts. The programs will take place at Lowe-Volk Park, located 3 miles north of US Route 30.

Homeschool in Nature: Wildlife Timeline On Thursday, January 4, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., homeschoolers aged 5-12 are invited to step back in time to explore Ohio’s changing landscape and wildlife over the past two centuries. Registration is required and can be done by calling the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000.

Tracks in the Trails Later that day, at 4 p.m., Naturalist Chelsea will lead a hike through the park’s trails in search of animal tracks in the mud or snow. Participants will practice identifying the animals that have left their marks on our park.

Frozen Critters on Wednesday, January 10, at 5:30 p.m., the park invites you to learn about “Frozen Critters”. This program will explore how animals survive harsh Ohio winters, including the peculiar adaptation of some species to be nearly frozen through, only to “come back to life” when temperatures rise.
