CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District is set to host a series of engaging and educational events at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598, throughout the winter season. These events aim to connect the community with nature and provide enriching experiences for all ages.
Superb Squirrels
On Wednesday, January 29, at 5 p.m., join Naturalist Donald for an insightful presentation on the diverse species of squirrels in Ohio. Whether they climb trees, glide through the air, or burrow underground, these fascinating creatures play vital roles in our ecosystems.

Snowflake Hike
From Saturday, February 1, to Friday, February 28, visitors can enjoy the Snowflake Hike at Lowe-Volk Park. As you stroll through the park, look for laminated snowflakes, each featuring a line of a poem. Complete the hike during office hours and stop by the Nature Center’s front desk to collect your prize.

Winter Author Experience
On Saturday, February 1, at 2 p.m., the Nature Center will host environmental photographer and writer Ian Adams. Known for his work in Ohio’s natural, rural, historical, and garden photography, Adams’ photos will be on display from January 25 through February 28. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Explorers: Evergreens
On Tuesday, February 4, at 5 p.m., the Little Explorers program invites children ages 0-5 to explore evergreens and their cones. This interactive program focuses on stimulating infants’ senses and developing fine motor skills for toddlers and preschoolers.

Face to Face: Arthropods
On Wednesday, February 5, at 5 p.m., get up close and personal with some of the most abundant and diverse creatures on the planet. The event will feature isopods, a tarantula, and Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, offering a hands-on experience for attendees.

Homeschool in Nature: Trail Camera Viewing
On Thursday, February 6, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., homeschoolers will have the opportunity to view footage from trail cameras set up the previous month. This event is designed for children ages 5-12. To register, call the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000.
