BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District is kicking off a jam-packed spring schedule this March, headlined by the return of a highly anticipated wildlife photography exhibit and a variety of family-friendly outdoor adventures.

Leading the lineup is the Ron Paynter Photo Exhibit, which has been rescheduled after a January snowstorm prevented the artist from traveling to Ohio. The exhibit, featuring stunning captures of birds and local wildlife, will be on display at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center from Saturday, March 28, through April 18.

The public is invited to a “Meet the Photographer” Open House on March 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park. Visitors can enjoy light refreshments while discussing photography techniques and the stories behind Paynter’s work.

Other upcoming programs include:

  • Floating Fairies (March 28, 2 p.m.): An exploration at Carpenter’s Bottom to find fairy shrimp, salamanders, and wood frogs. Waterproof boots are recommended.
  • Viewing the Night Sky (March 28, 8:30 p.m.): The Crawford Park Astronomy Club will guide visitors through views of Jupiter, Saturn, and distant galaxies at Lowe-Volk Park.
  • Hi-Tech Egg Hunt (March 29, 1-3 p.m.): A modern twist on a spring tradition using GPS units and smartphones to solve nature-based riddles for prizes.
  • Girl Scouts: Animal Observer (March 31, 6 p.m.): A dedicated session for Daisy scouts to earn their badges through wetland hikes and field observations.
  • Homeschool in Nature: Eggs (April 2, 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.): An educational session for children ages 5–12 exploring the diversity of animal eggs.
