CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District has announced a diverse schedule of educational and outdoor programs for early April, ranging from prehistoric artifact hunts to hands-on wildlife feeding sessions. All events will be held at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598.
The programming kicks off Saturday, Apr. 4, at 10 a.m. with the district’s popular annual Artifact Hunt. Participants will meet at the park before heading to nearby farm fields to search for prehistoric remnants left by the area’s earliest inhabitants. Officials recommend that attendees dress for the weather and wear boots if the ground is wet.
On Wednesday, Apr. 8, at 5:30 p.m., Naturalist Donald will host “Face to Face: Frogs and Toads.” The hour-long session allows visitors to meet the Nature Center’s “frog ambassadors,” including American toads and gray treefrogs, while learning about amphibian life cycles and local habitats.
The focus shifts to geology on Saturday, Apr. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Rock and Fossil Day. The Richland Mineral and Fossil Club will showcase a variety of displays, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase rocks, minerals, gems, and fossils.
The series concludes Monday, Apr. 13, at 5:30 p.m. with Feeding Day. Led by Naturalist Lisa, this hands-on program invites the public to assist in feeding the animals at Lowe-Volk Park. Participants may help provide a variety of foods, including insects, fruits, and vegetables, to the resident wildlife.
