BUCYRUS – Crawford County’s newest event center is calling all brides-to-be to its May Bridal Show.

The Venue at Old 30, 1325 E. Mansfield St., is finalizing plans for a Bridal Show on Sunday, May 23.  The free event, which will showcase about 15 Bucyrus-area vendors, will be held from 12 to 3 p.m.

“We’re trying to cover pretty much everything a couple would need for their special wedding day,” said Abbagale Hinton, event coordinator for The Venue at Old 30.  “We’re definitely hoping for a big turnout for this one.”

Special Moments Bridal & Tuxedo in Bucyrus will be on hand, Hinton said, as well as cake decorators, hairstylists, make-up and nail technicians, videographers, photographers, and D.J.s, among others.  Door prizes will be given away every half hour.

Many of the vendors will be offering discounts that day to encourage bookings, Hinton said.  The Venue itself will also be giving 10-percent off the cost of catering to those who book the event center within two weeks of the Bridal Show, she said.

The Venue’s in-house caterer, Samantha Feeman, is planning to prepare a selection of offerings from the menu, Hinton said, including salmon cakes, whiskey meatballs, and smoked pork, for Bridal Show guests to sample.

The Venue, which opened in November, is also gearing up for a public open house on Tuesday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Hinton said it will be the perfect opportunity to showcase the 300-person facility and its recent renovations.

In addition to wedding receptions, Hinton said, The Venue is an ideal setting for class reunions, business seminars, Christmas parties, and other events.  A downstairs bar area, which is currently being remodeled, will be available to rent in the fall, she said.

“We’d also like to get some community events in there, like a Paint & Wine Night or Yoga & Wine,” Hinton said, “plus we’re trying to accommodate due to COVID people who are still trying to have their events and parties they missed out on last year.”

The Venue, which is located in the old VFW Post 8999 building, is a family business run by Connie Smith, her son, Austin Smith, and her brother, Breck Baker, who also owns and operates Old 30 BBQ across the street and Baker’s Pizza in town.  Information is available on their Facebook page or on their website
