CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—As Super Bowl LIX approaches on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office are reminding drivers: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.
To ensure a safe celebration, plan ahead. If you’re attending a Super Bowl party and plan to drink, arrange for a designated driver to get you home safely. Hosts should provide plenty of food and non-alcoholic drinks for guests, especially designated drivers. If you’re the designated driver, stay committed to keeping everyone safe.
“Super Bowl is a special night for our community to come together, but we need responsible drivers on our roads,” said Sheriff Scott Kent. “If you’re going out for Super Bowl LIX, make sure you have a designated driver. If you’re hosting, take care of your designated drivers and remind everyone: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.”
Drunk driving can lead to serious crashes, causing injuries or fatalities. Help ensure a safe night for everyone by planning ahead.
Hosting a Super Bowl Party?
- Provide snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Ask guests to designate sober drivers in advance.
- Remind guests to pace themselves, eat, and drink water.
- Never serve alcohol to minors, as you could be held liable for any damage or injury caused by an underage driver.
Be the Designated Driver MVP
- Commit to a sober evening.
- Enjoy the food, company, and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Take keys from anyone who has been drinking and help them get home safely.
Drivers should plan ahead if they intend to drink. Secure a designated driver or call a taxi or rideshare. If you find yourself unable to drive, give your keys to a sober driver. Friends should take keys from anyone considering driving after drinking and help them get a sober ride home. If you spot a drunk driver, contact local law enforcement.
