GALION—The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the community for their help in an ongoing investigation into a hit-skip accident that occurred on Friday, September 29, 2023. The incident took place around 8:50 pm on Fairview Rd., near Buckeye Dr. in Polk Township, just north of the City of Galion.
According to authorities, the victim, identified as Ed Fox, 55, of rural Galion, was riding his bicycle northbound on Fairview Ave. at the time of the accident. He had proper rear and front lighting, ensuring his visibility. Tragically, Mr. Fox was struck from behind by a northbound sedan. After the collision, the sedan fled the scene, leaving Mr. Fox injured and in need of assistance.
The sedan involved in the hit-skip accident is believed to be either a 2-door or 4-door vehicle, light gray or silver in color. Law enforcement officials suspect that the car may have sustained damage to its front center or the front driver’s side.
In an update provided on October 6, 2023, it was revealed that Mr. Fox is currently in stable condition at a Columbus Hospital, battling injuries sustained in the incident.
The Trudeau Family of rural Galion has come forward to offer a $5,000.00 reward. This reward will be given to anyone who provides information leading to the identification, arrest, prosecution, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the hit-skip accident that occurred on Friday, September 29th.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to this hit-skip accident to come forward and assist in their investigation.
