Area residents can expect to see a lot of purple this weekend as The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Crawford County is back on the track at Wynford.
The opening ceremony for this year’s event will be at 6 p.m. Friday with the Cancer Survivor’s Lap in which all cancer survivors take a victory lap around the track. The other big event that evening is the Luminaria Ceremony at 10.
There will be special events throughout the evening and overnight including a 5K run beginning at 9 o’clock Saturday morning. Following the 5K awards ceremony, the closing ceremony will follow at 11:30 Saturday morning.
This year’s goal for the local Relay for Life is to raise $97,000 with 19 registered teams.
