A new health survey comparing the relative health of Ohioans county by county ranks Crawford County 52 out of 88.
Geauga County in northeast Ohio and Scioto County in the southern part of the state are at opposite ends of those rankings. The annual rankings are from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
The survey is based on factors such as longevity, infant mortality rates, access to health care and individual behaviors such as smoking. Heavily weighted in the survey are social and economic factors because of their impact on health and access to care. Those components include education, unemployment and income.
In North Central Ohio Seneca County has the highest ranking of 16 followed by Wyandot County at 30 and Huron at 33. Richland County is 47 followed by Crawford at 52, Morrow at 56 and Marion County at 62.
