The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office has reported one man died and six others were injured as a result of a two-car crash Saturday evening in Wyandot County.
Calvin A. Lust of rural Crawford County was declared deceased at Wyandot Memorial Hospital following the accident at approximately 8:30 Saturday at the intersection of Ohio 53 and US 23 north of Upper Sandusky.
According to the Sheriff’s report, Lust was operating a vehicle that exited US 23 and entered the intersection of State Route 53 from the southbound ramp. The Lust vehicle pulled into the path of a vehicle operated by Terry Seabold of Wapakoneta. Seabold’s vehicle struck the Lust vehicle in the driver’s side.
First responders and EMS personnel actively performed CPR on Lust while he was being extricated from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. Deputies were later informed by emergency room staff at Wyandot Memorial Hospital that Lust had died from his injuries.
The four passengers in Lust’s vehicle along with Seabold and a passenger from that vehicle were all transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital as well. None of the other crash victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
