CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County History Alliance (CCHA) is inviting the public to a historic “triple birthday party” on Sunday, March 1, marking the official local kickoff for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The event, which runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Hub at Village Square in Crestline, serves a dual purpose: celebrating the national semiquincentennial while simultaneously honoring Ohio’s 223rd birthday and Crawford County’s upcoming 200th anniversary.
“We have about 14 historical organizations from all around the county participating,” said Amber Wertman of the CCHA. “It’s been a collaborative effort since 2022 to lead these celebrations.”
The festivities begin with a 2 p.m. opening ceremony featuring Crestline Mayor Linda Pitt and performances by the United in Harmony chorus. Attendees can explore exhibits from all 14 Alliance members, including the Galion History Center and the Bucyrus Public Library. A highlight of the afternoon will be the debut of the 2026 “History Passport,” a collectible book designed by Tanisha over at the Galion History Center that encourages residents to visit historical sites throughout the summer.
Special guests will include reenactors portraying Colonel Crawford and his wife, Hannah, along with a “Story Walk” for children. While there is a suggested $5 donation to cover rental costs, the event is open-house style and includes free birthday cake for all.
