CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County CEO Program is calling on local business and community leaders to secure its final investments ahead of its fall 2026 launch, aiming to cultivate the next generation of high school entrepreneurs.
CEO, which stands for Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities, is a nationally recognized model from the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship. The program immerses students in the local business world, where they spend a school year visiting companies, learning from guest speakers, and working with mentors to build their own real companies. The program is fully funded by local support, ensuring no cost to schools or participating students.
Initial launch funding has been secured by partners including North Central Electric Cooperative, United Way of North Central Ohio, and the Crawford Partnership. The program is now just a few commitments away from its goal of 35 local investors contributing $1,000 each annually to sustain the program.
Todd Boyer, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Ohio Mutual Insurance Group and a member of the CEO board, emphasized the program’s value.
“These students will become our future workforce, our future business owners, and our future community leaders,” Boyer said. “By supporting this program, we are helping them build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to succeed, and showing them that opportunity exists right here at home.”
Mike Martin, Principal of Buckeye Central High School and a CEO board member, views the program as essential for bridging the education gap.
“CEO isn’t just another class—it’s an opportunity for students to discover what they’re passionate about… showing students that their ideas, talents, and futures have a place right here in Crawford County,” Martin said. “Our best and brightest don’t have to leave to succeed.”
Beyond financial contributions, investors are invited to host students, serve as mentors, and help guide the program as board members, becoming a vital part of developing local talent.
