BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Local producers and industry professionals are set to gather next month for the annual Winter Manure Meeting, a premier educational event focusing on the intersection of livestock waste management and high-tech crop production.

Organized by the Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), the event brings together a powerful collaboration of local leaders and academic experts. Speakers from Hord Family Farms, Bird Agronomics, The Ohio State University, and Michigan State University will lead discussions on maximizing the value of manure as a nutrient source.

The program highlights the shift from viewing manure as waste to treating it as a precision fertilizer. Key topics include:

  • Ag-Tech Innovations: A deep dive into the HarvestLab 3000 liquid manure NIR sensor, which allows for real-time nutrient analysis during application.
  • Soil Health & Cover Crops: Strategies for maximizing cover crop benefits when paired with manure.
  • Compliance & Record Keeping: Essential guidelines for modern manure management and documentation.

The event, sponsored by Agri-King/Pit-King, is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Whetstone Township Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a catered meal, with the formal program running until 8:15 p.m.

Interested participants must RSVP by February 9, 2026, by calling Crawford SWCD at 419-562-8280 ext. 3 or emailing Hannah Ziegler at hannah.ziegler@oh.nacdnet.net.
