BUCYRUS — A Bucyrus man was killed in a car-motorcycle crash in Bucyrus at 7:37 p.m. Sunday evening.
The driver of the motorcycle, Shannon R. Byrum, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Bucyrus Police, Byrum was traveling westbound on East Irving Street on his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by Judith M. Haverstein, 77, also of Bucyrus, pulled from the stop sign at Maple Street heading southbound. Byrum’s motorcycle struck the left rear door and quarter panel of Haverstein’s vehicle. Haverstein and her passenger, Ruth Ann Cross, 71, of Bucyrus, were treated for minor injuries.
After the initial investigation, Haverstein was issued a citation for failure to yield and the report will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Troopers from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol were called to assist with the crash investigation. The Bucyrus Fire Department and Life Support Team Ambulance also assisted at the scene of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation pending test results and results from the coroner’s office.
