GALION — An injury crash involving a semi-truck closed U.S. 30 to traffic while emergency crews responded.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, an International semi-truck towing a second truck was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 just west of Ohio 61 when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and drove through the guardrail and into the deep ditch on the north side of the road.

Multiple deputies reported two men occupied the cab of the truck, with one driving and one sleeping.

Both men were ejected from the vehicle and were transported to Galion Community Hospital before being transported to Columbus. It was unknown by crews on scene which medical facility the men were transported to.

The crash caused the westbound lane of U.S. 30 to be closed and detoured to Ohio 61.

Agencies responding to the scene included the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier, Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department, Galion Fire Department, Galion Police Department and Crestline Police Department.

An ambulance with the Galion Fire Department was damaged in a crash involving a semi-truck, while responding, and had to be towed from the scene. It sustained damage to the front passenger panel.

Weather was deemed a factor in the crash.
