BUCYRUS — One man was transported by medical helicopter after being involved in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning.
According to Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Commander Lt. Scott Rike, 26-year-old Adam Smith of Bucyrus was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for serious injuries after 8 a.m.
Initial investigations led to a report that Smith was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 west of Ohio 4, traveling from his place of employment to his residence, when he traveled left of center, struck a flashing arrow sign and entered the median.
He then struck a culvert, causing his white Ford F-250 to overturn. Smith was ejected through the driver-side window.
He was not wearing a seatbelt.
He was treated by medical staff on scene until he was transported by Mercy Health LifeFlight.
U.S. 30 westbound was closed to traffic for approximately half an hour.
Holmes Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bucyrus City Fire Department, Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Oceola Garage also responded to the crash.

Rike said alcohol is not considered a factor and the crash remains under investigation with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Smith will be cited with failure to control. Cost of damages to the flashing arrow sign is unknown.
