Crawford County’s unemployment rate made a significant move in the right direction in February, but it still isn’t back to where it was a year ago.
In the latest report issued Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Crawford County’s jobless rate went from 7.1 percent in January to 6.7 percent in February. In February of 2015, the county’s unemployment rate was 6.6 percent. In February of 2014 the rate was 8.0 percent and in 2013 it was 9.7 percent.
According to the reports, the labor force in Crawford County has gone from 19,500 in 2014 to 19,200 in 2016. This February’s report shows 17,900 people employed in the county compared to 18,000 the same month in 2014 and 1,300 people considered unemployed now compared to 1,600 unemployed in the same month in 2014.
Of those counties that share a boundary with Crawford County, Wyandot County has the lowest rate of unemployment at 4.3 percent and Huron County has the highest at 9.3.
