Crawford County bucked the trend in Ohio for the month of October and it wasn’t in a positive way. While the state’s unemployment rate continued down, the county’s took a jump.

According to the latest figures released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services the jobless rate in Crawford County was 5.7 percent for October. That is an increase of 0.4 from September.

The increase can be tracked to a net loss in jobs and the labor pool. Both are down by 100 from September. The number of unemployed remained the same. However, the county is still far ahead of where it was a year ago when the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent.

In the immediate area Wyandot County had the lowest rate of unemployment at 3.7 percent, followed by Seneca County at 4.1 and Morrow County at 4.2. Huron County is still the highest at 5.8. Richland County sits at 5.0 and Marion County at 4.9.
